KUALA LUMPUR, 19 Okt -- Penyedia tenaga bersih, Plus Solar Systems Sdn Bhd (Plus Solar Systems) berharap kerajaan akan mempertimbangkan untuk memberi pengecualian cukai baharu bagi sektor tenaga boleh diperbaharui (RE) dalam merangka Belanjawan 2021 yang dijadual dibentangkan di Parlimen pada 6 November depan.

Pengasas bersama dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekuti Plus Solar Systems, Ko Chuan Zhen berkata kerajaan harus mempertimbangkan untuk memperkenalkan cukai karbon dengan melihat bagaimana ia berjaya dilaksanakan di negara-negara lain.

Beliau berkata langkah seperti itu akan menjadi insentif bagi syarikat korporat untuk mengguna pakai amalan RE.

"Ia sangat melegakan apabila mendengar Menteri Kewangan berkata bahawa Belanjawan 2021 akan menumpukan perhatian kepada kehidupan lestari sebagai salah satu temanya, lanjutan Elaun Cukai Pelaburan Hijau (GITA) dan Pengecualian Cukai Pendapatan Hijau (GITE) sehingga 2023,”  katanya kepada Bernama dalam temu bual baru-baru ini.

Baru-baru ini, Menteri Kewangan Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz berkata Belanjawan 2021 akan dirangka dalam empat tema iaitu menjaga kebajikan rakyat, memacu ekonomi, kehidupan lestari dan meningkatkan penyampaian perkhidmatan awam.

"Ini merupakan sesuatu yang positif apabila Tengku Zafrul berkata pandemik COVID-19 tidak memperlahankan momentum untuk pelaburan yang mampan dan syarikat yang menerapkan prinsip-prinsip berkaitan alam sekitar, sosial dan tadbir urus akan mencatatkan prestasi lebih baik.

"Seiring dengan tema pertama belanjawan itu iaitu menjaga kebajikan rakyat, ia adalah harapan kami supaya kawasan luar bandar dan pedalaman yang tidak mempunyai akses elektrik akan dilengkapi dengan penyelesaian solar untuk meningkatkan kualiti hidup rakyat," kata Ko.

Selain itu, bagi memastikan panel solar mampu dimiliki, beliau berharap cukai jualan dapat dikecualikan untuk panel yang diimport.

Ko juga meminta kerajaan agar mempertimbangkan untuk memberi pengecualian cukai bagi penyelesaian bateri kerana ia adalah trend tenaga bersih yang akan datang untuk menurunkan kos bagi pemilik perniagaan dan mereka yang melabur dalam solar.

"Satu bentuk pengecualian cukai juga diperlukan bagi individu ketika mereka melabur dalam tenaga solar, sama sepertipengecualian cukai yang kami terima apabila melabur dalam peranti teknologi peribadi," katanya.

KUALA LUMPUR: Clean energy provider, Plus Solar Systems Sdn Bhd, hopes that the government would consider introducing new tax exemptions for the renewable energy (RE) sector in drafting Budget 2021, which will be announced on November 6.

Co-founder and chief executive officer Ko Chuan Zhen said among other things, the government should consider introducing carbon tax by looking at how it has been successfully implemented in other countries.

He added that such a move will be an incentive for corporations to adopt RE practices. "It is encouraging to hear our Finance Minister saying that Budget 2021 will focus on sustainable living as one of its themes, with the extension of the Green Investment Tax Allowance and Green Income Tax Exemption incentives until 2023," Ko told Bernama in an interview recently.

Recently, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz said Budget 2021 will be framed across four broad themes - caring for the people, steering the economy, sustainable living and enhancing public service delivery.

"It was a plus when Tengku Zafrul said the Covid-19 pandemic had not slowed the momentum for sustainable investing, and that companies which have embraced environmental, social and governance principles perform better.

"In line with the first theme of the budget, which is caring for the people, it is our hope that rural and remote areas which do not have access to electricity will be outfitted with solar solutions to improve the people's quality of life," said Ko.

Additionally, to ensure that solar panels become more affordable, he hoped that sales tax can be waived for imported panels. He also urged the government to consider introducing tax exemptions for battery solutions as it is an up-and-coming clean energy trend to lower the costs for business owners and for those who invest in solar.

"A form of tax exemption also is needed for individuals when they invest in solar energy, similar to the kind of tax exemption we receive from investing in personal technology devices," added Ko. — Bernama
